What is eWay Bill? E way Bill Rules & Generation Process.

Intra-State Implementation of e-way bills for States of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to begin from 15th April 2018. Notification to be issued within respective states this regard.

What is an Eway Bill?

EWay Bill is an electronic way bill for movement of goods which can be generated on the eWay Bill Portal. Transport of goods of more than Rs. 50,000 (Single Invoice/bill/delivery challan) in value in a vehicle cannot be made by a registered person without an eway bill.

Alternatively, Eway bill can also be generated or cancelled through SMS, Android App and by Site-to-Site Integration(through API).

When an eway bill is generated a unique eway bill number (EBN) is allocated and is available to the supplier, recipient, and the transporter.

As per Official Notification-11/2018 dated 2nd February 2018: Mandatory Implementation of eWay Bill is now cancelled from 1st February 2018.

eWay Bill generation is optional until further notification this regard.

Notifications to look back…

1. eWay bill rules  rolled out on a trial basis from 16th Jan 2018
2. The eway bill for inter-state transport implemented in India from 1st February 2018 along with 13 States agreeing for Implementation of eway bill for Intra-State transport too
3. The states can opt to follow the eway bill system for intra-state transport anytime between 1st Feb to 1st June 2018
4. From 1st June 2018 eway bill rules for intra-state transport will uniformly apply to all states.
